We're thrilled to announce our October partnerships, representing $1,350,000 in grants across three countries! We’ve approved funding for three transformational organizations: Plant with Purpose in Mexico, where rural communities are revolutionizing their agricultural practices while restoring vital ecosystems; National Farm to School Network, connecting thousands of U.S. students with fresh, local food and agricultural education; and One Acre Fund in Zambia, equipping smallholder farmers with resources to boost their harvests and household incomes. National Farm to School Network | United States

National Farm to School Network (NFSN) is an information, advocacy and networking hub for communities working to bring local food sourcing and food and agriculture education into school systems and early care education environments. NFSN increases access to local food and nutrition education to improve children’s health, strengthen family farms, and cultivate vibrant communities. Using their $50,000 grant, National Farm to School Network will carry out their 10th Farm to Cafeteria Conference as well as provide scholarships for attendance to the conference. Here, individuals in school nutrition, local food procurement, early care education or community food access, will have the chance to gather, share resources, and learn about cultivating a more holistic food system.

One Acre Fund | Zambia

One Acre Fund is an agricultural service provider that supports Africa's smallholder farmers to build resilient communities through access to inputs, seasonal training, and agronomic support. Whole Foods Market Foundation has supported One Acre Fund global programs since 2010, with $6.8M USD authorized to date across 14 projects. Using their 3-year, $750,000 grant, One Acre Fund Zambia will grow their farmer network and build the foundation of their agroforestry program, including the execution of their first carbon credit sale and farmer benefit payout. This funding will support agroforestry and input programs to approximately 944 smallholder farmers. 

Plant with Purpose | Mexico

Plant with Purpose (PWP) is a multi-country NGO, operating in nine countries, where it partners with rural farming communities to address the interconnected challenges of economic poverty, social vulnerability, soil degradation, and deforestation, through an integrated, community-led approach. Working alongside over 5,000 families in Mexico, PWP combines training on regenerative agriculture, watershed restoration, and community Savings and Loans Groups. Using their 3-year, $555,000 grant, Plant with Purpose will expand their core programs, reaching 914 farmers. Within 3 years, participants are expected to have increased their savings by 2.5X their monthly income and to have decreased their level of multidimensional poverty by 43%.
