Empowering Liberian Livelihoods (ELILI) is a nonprofit established by Entrepreneurs du Monde that provides microfinance services to underserved communities in Liberia. With their 3-year, $300,000 grant from the Whole Foods Market Foundation serving as revolving loan capital, ELILI will expand its lending operations across Zorzor and Gbarnga, scaling from 432 to 3,500 active borrowers and providing loans to 1,606 borrowers as funds are repaid and relent. The Foundation's support will help ELILI grow its earned revenue through three loan products, ultimately enabling the organization to achieve financial sustainability while empowering Liberian entrepreneurs and farmers to build stronger livelihoods.
Farm to Cafeteria Canada (F2CC) works to transform how food is experienced, learned, and celebrated in schools across Canada by connecting students to local food systems and fostering vibrant school food communities. With their Whole Foods Market Foundation 2-year, $378,580 grant F2CC will fund 20 Farm to School Canada grants and 15-20 Indigenous School Community Grants, along with training, capacity building, and program delivery resources. This investment will impact over 16,000 students and staff, strengthening the capacity of diverse school communities to build meaningful connections between young people and the local food systems that nourish them.
